The seniors about to graduate from the school where I work are almost done with their classes. The have about a week of class left then their final exams and voilá they can say good-bye to their high school years. Most of the kids are pretty cool and friendly specially if you consider the fact that most are fucking rich. That gets me to the point of this post....The word envy is pretty strong. The Websterīs dictionary defines it as the painful or resentful awareness of an advantage enjoyed by another joined with a desire to possess the same advantage. If you are Catholic then you know that... (more)

Iīm hanging out at my grandmotherīs place for the following week. My aunt and cousin are out of town and wanted me to stay over and keep an eye on my grandmother. Iīm looking forward to next week because I start the intermediate level of my Japanese course. So far, Iīve learned the Hiragana and Katakana writing systems and we should be starting with Kanji pretty soon. I ordered these cool Kanji flash cards from Amazon.com and I canīt wait to start using them.
Today, I went to my regular French class at the Alliance Francaise. Todayīs class was pretty interesting but I still feel we are... (more)

Hello all,
I canīt believe Iīve been away for so long. My last post was Sep 11th, 2005. Well, Iīm still here in Venezuela and mostly hating it. A few things have changed though...I finally got a job. I started work Jan 12th at an American school here in Caracas so Iīve been there for 3 months now (so my trial period is over so if they want to get rid of me by Venezuelan law they have to pay me benefits and a bunch of other stuff). The job is ok, I only hate it part of the time. Iīm an administrative assistant and apparently that involves ordering food, talking to your bossī maid, and lots... (more)

I start work tomorrow. Iīm happy to have a job but Iīm frustrated because the position will do nothing for my future...itīs just one of those filler jobs until you find something with better pay, better benefits and better everything! Sorry if I sound bitchy but I cannot help feeling defeated...I canīt even begin to explain how much I hate this place.

In response to the comments made by Pat Robertson about Mr. Chavez, I found this editorial on the English Web site of El Universal (Venezuelan national newspaper). I think Pat Robertsonīs comments are going to come back and bite us Venezuelans in the ass....

Check it out...

After hearing the news about the ill-fated flight, itīs nothing short of a miracle that no one was seriously hurt. My Grandma says that all the Guardian Angels of the people on board got together to save them and I personally think sheīs right.

I earned 20000 Bolivares yesterday for translating two pages of text from Spanish to English. What am I going to do with all that money you ask? Well, I gave 5000 to my Dad for helping me out with the translation. With the remaining funds... about 10 Canadian dollars...Iīll buy a shampoo or something.
